Go Walking for Mental Health

Spring is here. The temp is going up these days, but it's also just cool enough and a perfect chance to enjoy the sounds of nature before the sweltering heat rises for the summer. The springtime also means the people can enjoy the trees and flowers blossoming into many excellent, bright colors, making us fall in love with this special time of the year. Seize the opportunity to breathe fresh air and get some Vitamin D, which is good for your body. What's more, walking is not only good for your physical health but also for your mental health. According to the research, physically active people have up to a 30% reduced risk of becoming depressed, and staying active helps those who are depressed recover.

Walking is just easy, and it can be to get up and get out as we all live a busy life, and it doesn't need to be massive amounts of time- 1 hour a day is enough. If you work full time or need to take care of your kids, you can even split your 1 hour into two 30 minute or four 15 minutes walk if this is more convenient.

Here are some of the benefits of getting outdoors for a walk:

Improve Your Mood

Walking can improve your mood. Studies show that it can help relieve stress, reduce anxiety, depression, and a negative mood. Also, it can boost self-esteem and reduce your symptoms of social withdrawal.

To make yourself feel better and improve your mood, go for 30-60 minutes of walking four days per week. It's never too late to do that!

Boost Your Energy

If you feel tired very often, why not go for a walk? It's a better and more effective energy booster than a cup of tea or coffee. It will get your heart rate pumping and increase oxygen flow through the body.

Improve Your Quality of Sleep

The quality of sleep is very important to both your physical and mental health. Lacking sleep will have negative effects on your body. In fact, there is so much evidence to show that taking a brisk walk for at least 20 minutes or 30 minutes stroll will help us sleep more soundly. Simply taking a walk during the day- like a 20-minute stroll during the lunch break or walking the dog to a further block-may be enough for you to sleep better at night.

Help You Get More Creative Thinking

Research shows that walking might help clear your mind and thus have more creative thinking. Walking can open up a flow of ideas and is an easy way for you to increase creativity and keep physically active at the same time.
